EDUARDO RAMIREZ is an actor and visual artist from San Juan, Puerto Rico, now based in Manhattan, NY. He holds a B.A. in Drama and Theatre Arts and a minor in Visual Arts from Columbia University. He has trained in a range of performance techniques including Classical, Stanislavski, Practical Aesthetics, Method, Suzuki, Viewpoints, and on-camera acting. His recent credits include: When Two People Invent Themselves (Telón de Agave), JUNK MAIL! (ALab), form.docx.pdf(2) (Purple Light Productions), Midnight Caller (short-film), and Outside Power (short-film). He has stage combat training, plays multiple instrumentalist, and is fluent in Spanish.
Eduardo’s work in the visual arts spans both photography and painting. Through these mediums, he investigates the vulnerability of the body. He is interested in bodies as liminal spaces, suspended between personal agency and the external forces that shape them, including state power, colonialism, and capitalism. As a diasporic artist, he engages the tension between presence and absence, bringing this sense of in-betweenness into sharp focus. He uses the image not simply as documentation but as a tool to surface and conjure what has been deliberately obscured.
In his free time, he enjoys going on going on runs, skating, and consuming media, some of which include Monty Don’s gardening show, Holland and Sandbrook’s history podcast, films galore, and El Abayarde.
